Here’s Everything You Need to Know About Kanye’s ‘Jesus Is King’

This weekend was supposed to mark the release of Kanye West‘s ninth studio album, Jesus Is King. Despite assurances from Kim Kardashian, the promised gospel album failed to arrive this Sunday.

In the absence of an actual album, Ye delivered on fanfare, in the form of listening sessions, Sunday Services and the announcement of a Nick Knight-directed IMAX documentary.

That isn’t to say that Jesus Is King has necessarily gone the way of YANDHI. Lucky audiences in Detroit and Chicago and Queens got a first listen to the album as part of the “Jesus is King: A Kanye West Experience.” According to the first critic reviews, it looks like the wait might be worth it.

However, the recent spate of delays has drawn comparisons to canceled, shelved and delayed projects in West’s archives.

‘Jesus Is King’ release date

Fans were disappointed when the 27th did not end up being the divine day as promised, but Kim Kardashian-West let her followers know that all is not lost. The mogul shared on her Instagram Story that Kanye would be holding a listening session on Saturday, September 28 and would subsequently be dropping the album on Sunday, September 29.
