Avatar: The Way of Water

 

Avatar: The Way of Water is a future epic science-fiction film directed by James Cameron and produced by 20th Century Fox. Following Avatar, it is the second film in Cameron's Avatar franchise. The film is set to be released on December 16, 2022.

Avatar: The Way of Water picks on after the events of the first film, following Jake Sully and Neytiri's newfound family of five children. Despite their best attempts to keep their family together, an old threat reappears, forcing Jake, Neytiri, and their children to escape to the Metkayina clan's territory in the Pandoran waters.

The storyline of Avatar: The Way of Water will be a fully-encapsulated, independent narrative, as will the plots of the previous sequels, but it will also be part of a meta-narrative that spans Avatar: The Way of Water.
